Written and produced by Jean-Marie Benjamin, the story of the film takes us back to 1946 through an inquiry made by a Roman journalist.

In Paris, in March 1968, after reading a little booklet dedicated to Padre Pio from Pietrelcina, Jean-Marie Benjamin decides to travel to Italy to meet the stigmatized monk. He remains 11 days in San Giovanni Rotondo, succeeded to see Padre Pio and to speak with him. Profoundly touched by the holiness of this man of God, Jean-Marie Benjamin has from 1969 up to now written a book entitled “Les Mystères de Padre Pio”, published by France Empire (Paris 1969) and “Epistolario di Padre Pio” in audio cassettes, published by San Paolo Editions (Rome 1992), further written, directed and produced the first film entitled “Padre Pio – The Night of the Prophet”  (broadcast by the Italian Television RAIUNO in April and May 1998) and, with the help of the countess Verena du Pasquier he has built a monument for Padre Pio in   Assisi that was inaugurated on 21 September 1997.
